Do you know or think you know SEO? Have you ever been in this cycle before? I know I have a couple of times throughout my five plus years in the industry.

Thanks for the share Thomas!
Anytime Jon! I think it is very insightful!
Wow that cartoon totally nails it! So are you now applying gray hat tactics yourself? Haha. Thanks for sharing!
Buck lets just say I have tried, tested, and experimented with a lot! Always glad to share. Thanks again for stopping through.
I think I’m still somewhere up at the top. Nice graphic.
Thanks Kim but I have to give the credit to others for the graphic. I’ve been on the top of both sides of the the cycle.
I think most people “think” they are somewhere at the top. The problem is that even if you stick to the pure path, the rules will change around you.
Very true but thats what I love about SEO. You have to be willing to follow and adapt to change. Thing is though the better people in the industry seem to know the new stuff before is “new”. They make it and make it work for them. By the time everyone else is doing the new thing they have found something different that works.
Cool graphic.
Glad you liked it!
Hhaha! Best infographic ever!
Marissa it really tells the SEO cycle for most SEOs!
Quite accurate! Very cool!
It thought the same and is why I decided to post it.
Thanks for posting this. Glad to see that it sparked some conversation.
Hey Jarrod,
Thanks for stopping by! You are welcome.
Very cute! I practice the “spaghetti strategy”, throw a bunch of strategies at the wall and see what sticks
Hey Barbara I think you, me and a lot of people have done the same!
“Spagehetti Strategy” worked really well until penguin. Our current model relies on much fewer targeted links rather than a slew of borderline ones. We still throw a noodle or two at that first tier of links, but have worked on better systems for that as well.
I’ve seen a lot of for-profit bloggers going through this cycle lately (mostly thanks to Google’s new rules); it’s a sad truth about SEO and your bottom line. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting Elizabeth! You are right and the problem is that too many companies allow Google to control the bottom line. You need people searching for your Brand whether its you, your company or whatever you are promoting. Get traffic from every where and be everywhere!
Cool graphic. I have to admit. I have no idea about SEO at all. I finally did figure out what a Google PR ranking is and why I should care. I think the best thing is to just be yourself and try your best. There is nothing wrong with being a for profit website though. Afterall, that is why most people bother to do it.
HAHAHHAHAA! Awesome. So so awesome. I like to try and learn new SEO stuff, but I also try to steer clear of a lot of tactics, espeically if they dont’ “feel nice” or “right” — mostly because I dont udnerstand googlebots, but I do know that I want to write stuff that peopel will want to read. That shoudl be first. Always first. I kepe that in mind.
Simply love it. .. and so true… cool presentation.
